World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Monkeypox, a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). It is the WHO’s biggest level of alert.
Monkeypox is spreading very rapidly in Africa. Director of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, General Jean Kaseya, said on Tuesday “I declare with a heavy heart but with an unyielding commitment to our people, to our African citizens, we declare mpox as public health emergency of continental security” This department is the top most for public health.
This virus was first discovered in Congo, in 1970. It was brought under control. However, in recent years, it has arisen again and spread to almost all countries of the African Continent.
What are symptoms of the Monkeypox and how it spread?
It is spread through close contacts, mainly through sexual contact. The new variant of Monkeypox, Clade Ib, spreads more rapidly than the prior one, Clade I.
Symptoms:
- You will feel flu like symptoms.
- Rashes on your body.
- Puss-filled lesions.
