Relation between Turkey and India have not been very good in recent times. Both are standing in opposite side to each other. Turkey is the supporter of the Palestine while India is a loud supporter of Israel. India is the biggest rival of Pakistan while Turkey is one of the biggest supporter of Pakistan. However, this ban is not the result of these differences. Rather, in recent months, Indian government made an agreement with a Turkish company, in a shipbuilding project in Indian shipyard. Some time ago India cancelled this agreement. Turkey did not respond to it immediately.
The Turkish government has not made big announcements about the imposing of the ban; rather, the decision was taken at a closed-door session in the Turkish Parliament, according to the solid sources.
According to the minutes of the debate at the Foreign Affairs Committee on July 10, 2024, Mustafa Murat Şeker, deputy chairman of the Presidency of the Defense Industry (SSB), Turkey’s top arms procurement agency, inadvertently disclosed the government’s secret policy regarding India.
