President Asif Zardari met the Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi and Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sarfaraz Bugti on August 27. He discussed the terror incidents in the province. After the attacks in Balochistan, President orders effective measures for “complete eradication” of terrorists. President Asif Ali Zardari instructed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan’s Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti to take effective measures for the elimination of terrorism.
Interior Minister Naqvi outlined the government’s approach to handling the situation. He emphasized that a large-scale operation is unnecessary, stating that a response at the level of a station house officer (SHO) would be sufficient to contain the threat. Naqvi expressed confidence in the capabilities of law enforcement and military personnel, asserting that they are well-equipped to deal with terrorists. “Our civil armed forces, armed forces, and police are fully prepared to combat these terrorists,” he declared.
In the latest surge in violence, militants affiliated with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army(BLA) launched a large number of attacks on Sunday midnight across Balochistan, particularly targeting those hailing from Punjab. At least 50 people including 14 security men lost their lives. Militants went on a rampage storming police stations, destroying railway tracks and setting almost 3 dozen vehicles across the province. The president told the two officials, “All possible steps should be taken to improve the security situation in Balochistan.”
In Musakhail, militants killed 23 people after checking their ID documents. They blocked a highway in Khadkocha and left 11 dead in Kalat after attacking a Levies station, two hotels, and a tribal elder’s residence. Meanwhile, Naqvi earlier vowed to stand behind Bugti’s Government. Addressing the media in Quetta flanked by CM Bugti, Naqvi said: “My aim to visit is to let you all and the people of Balochistan know the federal interior minister is standing behind the Balochistan chief minister.”
