Former Senator of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, has reaffirmed his commitment to protesting in support of the people of Gaza, declaring that no obstacles will deter him.
Speaking at a press conference alongside his wife, Humaira Tayyaba, founder of the Save Gaza Campaign, Mushtaq Ahmed Khan condemned the criminalization of voicing opposition to Israel in Pakistan. He revealed that two of their colleagues had been killed, yet no FIR was registered.
The former senator criticized the oppression faced by those protesting against Israel in Pakistan. He mentioned an agreement with the Additional Deputy Commissioner and SP to avoid blocking roads and to hold a peaceful protest. Despite this, they were subjected to police brutality.
Mushtaq Ahmed Khan emphasized their right to protest in Islamabad regarding the Gaza situation. He warned that the failure of the people of Gaza would endanger the existence of Al-Aqsa Mosque. He stressed that, given the current situation in Palestine, jihad has become obligatory for Muslims, urging Muslim leaders to abandon their cowardly policies and take decisive action.
Yesterday, during a protest in Islamabad against Israel’s ongoing atrocities against Palestinians, police arrested Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Humaira Tayyaba, and several Jamaat-e-Islami workers. They were later released following negotiations between Jamaat-e-Islami leadership and the police.
