Previously, on August 10, President Zardari granted approval for a civil award to the javelin champion, according to a press release issued by the President Secretariat Press Wing, citing Article 259 (2) of the Constitution.
According to the constitution the President has the authority to confer civil awards upon Pakistani citizens in acknowledgment of their outstanding achievements in various fields.
The Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s second-highest civilian honor, is conferred upon both civilians and military personnel for their
exceptional accomplishments.
Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s first individual Olympic gold medalist, set a new record with a 92.97-meter javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024, surpassing the previous record of 90.57 meters. He received the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, cash rewards, and gifts for his exceptional achievement, marking a remarkable journey from humble beginnings to athletic stardom.
