NEPRA has issued a decision on uniform electricity tariff for the entire country, including Karachi, after which the basic electricity tariff for domestic consumers will increase to Rs 7.12 per unit. Domestic consumers consuming 200 units per month will be exempted from the hike for three months.
For residential consumers, the base electricity tariff will be Rs 48.84 per unit. The monthly charges for consuming 201 to 300 units will rise by Rs 7.12 to Rs 34.26. For usage between 301 to 400 units, the monthly cost will increase by Rs 7.02 to Rs 39.15. Users consuming 401 to 500 units will see an increase of Rs 6.12, making their monthly charge Rs 41.36. Consumption between 501 to 600 units will incur a hike of Rs 6.12, bringing the tariff to Rs 42.78. For 601 to 700 units, the cost will rise by Rs 6.12 to Rs 43.92 per month. Any usage exceeding 700 units will face a similar Rs 6.12 increase, resulting in a tariff of Rs 48.84 per unit. These rates exclude taxes, which will further affect each tier. Lifeline customers, consuming up to 50 units monthly, will pay Rs 3.95 per unit, while those using between 51 to 100 units will pay Rs 7.74 per unit.
