On August 22, a police convoy doing their activities in Sadiqabad’s Kacha (Rural) area was caught in an attack by Dacoits. At least 12 policemen died in the rocket attack while several got injured. The convoy’s one mobile van was stuck in the rain water, after which dacoits launched an attack on the police vans.
“The bandits attacked the vehicles with rocket launchers after one of the vehicles in the convoy broke down,” said a statement from the inspector general’s office in Punjab.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack and have asked for a strong response to those responsible.
Remember, attacks by kacha dacoits are increasing once again in Pakistan. Armed forces have previously held a joint operation in Punjab against kacha dacoits but no fruitful outcome was captured.
On August 21, a school van was attacked by unknown armed men, which resulted in the killing of two school-going girls while four got injured. Last month, the DSP of Karachi police was also killed by kacha dacoits.
