Bangladesh has banned Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Tiktok. Social media platforms, especially Facebook and YouTube, have not been complying with Bangladesh’s laws, said Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the state minister for ICT, on Wednesday.
Protests are still going on in different parts of the country. These protests started when a high court of Bangladesh issued a order to give almost 30% quota of civil service jobs to the families of the veterans who participated in the 1971 war of independence. Government supported this, but students along with other civilians came out on roads and demands an immediate dismissing of this order.
The Supreme Court then declared the decision by high court as illegal amid heavy and deadly riots. The Supreme court also set the qouta from 30% to only 5%. Protest seemed to come to end but due to the mistreatment and using of force against civilians, they demand resignation from the PM Hasina.
It is reportedly said that many civilians are killed by the government who were leading the protests. Also, internet service is not working properly there.
