A tragic road accident in southern Iran has resulted in at least three fatalities and 48 injuries among Pakistani pilgrims en route to Iraq for the Arbaeen commemoration. The incident occurred late Sunday when their bus collided with a truck on the highway between Neyriz and Sirjan.
Iranian state media IRNA reported the crash, attributing it to brake failure and driver error, according to local traffic police. However, conflicting reports from Neyriz Governor Yaqub Khosrawani, cited by Mehr News Urdu, suggest a higher death toll of four Pakistanis with 30 injured.
This accident follows a recent, more severe crash in Yazd city that claimed 28 Pakistani pilgrims’ lives, whose bodies were repatriated to Pakistan last Friday.
