After Apple launched iOS 17.5.1 and iPadOS 17.5.1, people have been eagerly waiting for tech giant, Samsung’s response: well, it is here! Samsung has been indicating to us since the beginning of 2024 that “GALAXY AI is coming”, and throughout the year, we’ve been seeing it develop and improve.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Buds3 Pro, and Galaxy Watch Ultra on 11th July 2024 and we’ve seen even more advancements in Galaxy AI through them. Auto zoom is now available in FlexMode while using the rear camera of Galaxy Z Flip6. Take pictures without the hassle of zooming because Galaxy AI covers you! Can’t figure out what to reply to your friend? Galaxy AI will generate responses for you through Chat Assist. Galaxy AI now has NoteAssist. With an internet connection and Samsung Account Login, Note Assist will summarize your data.
With Note Assist and the S Pen, take notes like you never have before on your Galaxy Z Fold6. Galaxy AI will now assist you with drawing: turn your sketches into images in seconds. With the new Galaxy Buds3 Pro, comes Samsung’s first-ever Dual Amplifier which will minimize interference for pure, uninterrupted sound. Found yourself overhearing a conversation? But can’t understand it due to a language barrier? Your Galaxy Buds will interpret it for you. Are you health conscious and like to gain useful insights on your fitness? Buy the new Galaxy Watch Ultra. “Go further, track your progress, and receive personalized health insights, all in a durable design that withstands extreme conditions!” suggests Samsung’s Instagram post covering the latest launch. These updates are loved by many; especially the interpreting feature of Galaxy Buds3 Pro; but some suggest that they preferred the previous version, Galaxy Buds2 Pro’s design.
Some other serious criticisms need to be discussed. There is no doubt that Galaxy AI has improved the Samsung experience, but has it? It seems as if Samsung’s focus is only limited to expensive, flagship mobile phones and gadgets. Samsung is loved around the world for having a phone for everyone, but right now, Samsung’s budget phone users are feeling somewhat betrayed. Besides, are these features really that good? Autozoom: it is not perfect; and comes with a lot of conditions, such as, it won’t work in low-light conditions! ChatAssist has also been targeted by people. Is it intended to make our lives easier? Or just make us lazier? Ask this question yourself: do we need AI software to maintain our relationships? Are we that reluctant to make efforts for each other? Imagine how YOU would feel if it’s not your friend replying to you; but Galaxy AI.
Conclusively, are these improvements good enough to match with iOS 17.5.1 and iPadOS 17.5.1? Is Samsung’s Galaxy AI good enough to turn Apple users into Samsung? Would you ditch your Apple for this series? Is this range a hit for Samsung, or a miss? And most importantly, why is Galaxy AI not improving the Samsung experience for everyone?
