The government has announced its decision to revoke the passports of over 2,000 individuals engaged in begging abroad. Pakistani citizens found involved in begging overseas will face a 7-year passport block. This action follows revelations from the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, which disclosed to the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis that a significant number of beggars are being illegally trafficked abroad. According to the ministry’s secretary, 90% of the beggars apprehended overseas are of Pakistani origin.
