The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has issued a notification stating an additional Rs3.33 per unit fuel cost adjustment increase for May consumption. This will allow ex-Wapda distribution companies (Discos) to raise an additional Rs 41 billion in July. This move has come as a shock to many people, and it has raised questions about the impact it will have on consumers.
Although, NEPRA has reduced the fuel cost adjustment of K-Electric users by Rs 1.67 per unit based on thier April bills.
The Cabinet, however, had already approved an increase of Rs 5.75 to Rs 7.12 per unit. This is pending approval by NEPRA.
